More about Richard

Richard is the Resident Managing Partner of HFW's Abu Dhabi office and a recognised Defence and infrastructure projects lawyer.

Richard has decades of experience advising clients on defence contracting and complex infrastructure projects. He has extensive experience in defence, PPP and PFI. He acts for many of the world's major defence contractors on a wide range of international defence procurement. His range of work exposes him to complex transactions across all major asset classes on deals involving air, land and sea. Richard is familiar with all the latest procurement techniques ranging from outright acquisition to third party financed transactions to the provision of services under detailed performance measurement systems. Inevitably he has significant experience of Offset, outsourcing, intellectual property and technology transfer.

Richard also provides counsel on a wide range of commercial contracts, including specialist purchase and supply agreements, service agreements and maintenance contracts, outsourcing and procurement agreements and IT contracts. His clients range from government entities to global corporations, as well as large, medium and small corporations.

Richard qualified as a solicitor in 1990 having obtained a 2:1 (Hons) LLB law degree from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 1987. Prior to joining HFW, Richard has held partnership roles at both Bird & Bird and Berwin Leighton Paisner.
