London International Shipping Week – HFW Piracy seminar
HFW is pleased to be a sponsor of International Shipping Week and will be hosting a seminar on piracy on the second day of the conference week.
9 – 13 September 2013
As piracy off the East Coast of Africa diminishes, the industry faces a worrying growth of piracy off West Africa. HFW has helped owners, charterers, insurers and private maritime security companies tackle the issues off both coasts and has handled over 100 hijacking and kidnapping incidents.
The seminar will examine the different threats presented by both regions and how the lessons learned from Somalia might be applied to West Africa. During the seminar, particular consideration will be given as to whether armed guards might provide a solution for West Africa and the hurdles that currently stand in the way. Speakers will include HFW Partners, James Gosling, Richard Neylon and Elinor Dautlich.
In addition to the seminar, HFW are pleased to be sponsoring the cocktail reception on the Thursday evening, taking place at Grosvenor House.
