More about Fernando

Fernando is an experienced transactional attorney. His practice focuses on both domestic and international corporate transactions, energy operations, commercial agreements and ventures (including specialized procurement) and compliance with respect to anticorruption, labor and data privacy.

Clients look for Fernando to assist with their legal needs in Mexico, Latin America and the United States, covering a broad range of matters, such as entity and business set up, drafting, negotiation and execution of all sorts of commercial agreements, legal advice on upstream, midstream and downstream operations and the identification and mitigation of risks associated with critical business compliance matters.

Fernando is uniquely positioned to assist on international ventures due to being dual licensed (Mexico and Texas) and after having spent more than a decade as in-house counsel for Pemex both in the United States and Mexico. Fernando brings to the table the legal component acquired through exceptional education credentials and the expertise of fully practicing in several jurisdictions and solving matters for clients therein. On top of this, his in-house background allows Fernando to not only understand, but have a keen business sense and feel for his clients' needs. This unique combination makes Fernando a solid advisor for a broad range of industries and clients.

Fernando is fluent in English and Spanish and currently acts as Partner of HFW at the Firm's Houston office.

We are working with clients across our international network to help them minimise the impact of COVID-19 on their business and to prepare for what's next. To find out more, visit our dedicated Covid-19 hub.

The Houston office, which opened on 3 January 2017, established the firm's first office in the USA when HFW merged with leading Texas-based energy and marine firm Legge, Farrow, Kimmitt, McGrath & Brown LLP, a firm with whom we have been successfully collaborating for several years.

This is a significant strategic development for the firm, underlining the fact that Houston is an important geographical market for HFW and its clients, being a key touchpoint for several of the firm's chosen sectors, including energy, marine and insurance in particular.
