Catherine specialises in corporate, FDI, and M&As. She primarily advises clients, both Chinese and international, on their cross-border investments.
A distinct focus of Catherine's recent practice revolves around outbound investments of Chinese clients. She has experience advising on investments in jurisdictions including Australia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Romania. Many of her clients are Chinese SOEs in the renewable energy and agribusiness sectors.
Catherine is PRC law qualified (non-practising) and is fluent in English.
Recent work includes:
• A Chinese SOE – on its potential acquisition of majority interest in a waste to energy project in Bangladesh.
• A Chinese SOE – on its potential acquisition of a solar power project in Romania.
• A leading Chinese private company – on its entry into Australian transportation booking service market.
• An Australian company – on the PRC law aspect of its A$855 million sale of assurance business.
• A UK paper company – on its acquisition of a private manufacturing company in China, and on post-completion matters such as lease and employment issues.
