Sonia is an Associate in HFW's construction team, based in London. She specialises in dispute resolution in the construction and engineering sectors.

Sonia specialises in construction law, and worked at a leading national firm and boutique construction firm in New Zealand before moving to London in 2022. Sonia has worked on a wide array of contentious construction matters, acting for contractors and employers.

Sonia's experience includes claims relating to delay, loss and expense, payment, variations, and defects. Her experience spans various dispute resolution forums including mediation, adjudication, arbitration and litigation.

Sonia is qualified in New Zealand and was admitted in 2017.

Sonia's experience includes acting for an Australian contractor in respect of a marina project in Fiji, in international arbitration proceedings, defending a private prosecution for fraud in relation to a construction project, appearing in the High Court and Court of Appeal, and preparing leave for appeal and submissions for the Supreme Court of New Zealand, as well as providing project advice to a lead contractor on a major infrastructure upgrade to an air force base.
