About Mike
Mike has expertise in commodities, international commercial dispute resolution and corporate and financial services advisory work. Mike’s commodities practice covers both dispute resolution and advisory and transactional work, advising and assisting commodities traders, producers, utilities and financiers on sale and purchase matters (including trade disputes, warehousing arrangements, regulatory/licensing due diligence and drafting standard terms and conditions), trade finance (such as commodity derivatives and repos) and transhipment and freight issues (including advising on and assisting with negotiating charterparty terms, demurrage claims and advising on operational issues). Mike’s dispute resolution experience covers international arbitration and litigation on a broad range of commercial issues, including fraud, share option disputes, joint ventures, loan facilities and insolvency and administration procedures.
Mike has undertaken two secondments in-house at international banking groups, one in London and one in Abu Dhabi, advising on a range of corporate and commercial matters including banking facilities, standard terms and conditions, security issues, trade finance, IT agreements, financial services regulation and compliance and consumer credit licensing. Mike has also worked on secondment in Brussels at a major European utilities company, supporting the coal, freight and biomass desks and advising on all manner of physical and financial sale and purchase, finance and transportation issues.
