Christian is a regulatory and transactional lawyer within HFW's Commodities group, specialising in energy, derivatives and broader physical commodities. His clients are primarily trading houses, banks, utilities and commodity producers.
He advises on legislation applicable to the energy sector, the financial services regime and the broader regulatory regime applicable to commodities trading. He also acts as external counsel on transactions in both the physical and financial space, with a particular emphasis on electricity, derivatives, metals and trade finance.
Christian has undertaken short and long-term secondments and, prior to becoming a lawyer, spent 6 years in the commodities sector (with experience in operations, research, risk and trading) at a large Swiss trading house and a family office with assets across southern Africa.
Christian is one of the secretariat to the European Bulk Oil Traders' Association (EBOTA) and is a member of the Renewable Energy Institute and the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers. He is qualified in England and Wales.
