Suzanne is a Registered Foreign Lawyer in Singapore, having relocated from HFW's London office in 2013. Suzanne is a Registered Foreign Lawyer in Singapore, having relocated from HFW's London office in 2013. Her practice focuses on dispute resolution across all areas of international trade, most frequently in complex multi-jurisdictional disputes in international arbitration and in national courts, where she represents and advises commodity traders, shippers, ship owners and logistics providers, banks and financiers, insurers and end-users.

Suzanne has advised and represented parties in disputes in a broad spectrum of dispute resolution fora, including in the English High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court, as well as the EU Courts of Justice. She also has extensive experience as instructing solicitor assisting local counsel in the Singapore Courts, as well as in the courts of many other jurisdictions, most recently the Cayman Islands, Switzerland, Indonesia and Thailand.

Suzanne has a particular interest and expertise in litigation under payment and security instruments including letters of credit, bank guarantees and corporate securities. She has recently acted for the successful party in 2 landmark reported cases in the London High Court, one involving the obligations of a confirming bank under a letter of credit, and the other in relation to the construction of an on-demand corporate guarantee. Suzanne is also currently advising the beneficiary under letters of credit in a dispute where the issuing bank has raised allegations of fraud as a defence to non-payment.

Suzanne's other major cases include several high-value disputes, largely in SIAC arbitrations. Suzanne has extensive experience of all of the features of the SIAC rules, in particular applications before emergency arbitrators, the expedited procedure and consolidation. She has also represented clients in ad hoc arbitrations, and institutional / administered arbitrations under the SCMA, LMAA, ICC, LCIA, GAFTA, FOSFA and BANI rules. She has appeared as instructing solicitor in court cases in Singapore, London, and the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg.
