Lawyers have direct access to working with partners on sophisticated matters regardless of seniority. Juniors are given a great deal of responsibility from day one and full carriage of matters if they are willing to step up.
Working with colleagues from HFW’s global network has been a highly rewarding experience. I have had the opportunity to work with not only the Australian offices but also the London, Singapore and Hong Kong offices to name a few.
Coming from a Chinese background, Chinese New Year is an integral part of my culture. In a global firm like HFW, celebrating Chinese New Year in the workplace creates opportunities for colleagues from distinct backgrounds to learn more about a particular culture and its traditions. This is especially important for a firm that values diversity and has a strong presence in a multicultural society like Australia.
The firm offers an excellent, welcoming work environment where you feel at ease. It’s like a big family, with few or no social barriers, where people listen to each other and make sure everyone feels comfortable. I feel well supported in my role.
I have always been encouraged to move forward, particularly when I wanted to undertake training. The firm made arrangements for me to do so and continues to encourage me to complete it.
When I first joined HFW (22 years ago!), I was shy and reserved, but now I find it much easier to approach others and I want to share everything I’ve learned at HFW so that others can feel as comfortable in their roles as I do.
