More about Julian

Julian is a partner based in our Shanghai office. As well as being a solicitor, Julian is also a master mariner with over twelve years experience at sea on general cargo/container, tankers (VLCC, Product, North Sea Shuttle (DP2) and LNG), gas carriers and offshore dive support/sub-sea construction vessels (DP3).

Julian is named in the Legal 500 Asia Pacific Guide 2019 for Shipping in China. Having practiced in PRC for over 14 years, Julian has a sound understanding of the legal landscape there. His practice covers all aspects of shipping - both contentious and non-contentious, as well as trade and energy matters. His clients include PRC State Owned Companies, large PRC steel mills, PRC oil majors as well as traders, owners and charterers.

We are working with clients across our international network to help them minimise the impact of COVID-19 on their business and to prepare for what's next. To find out more, visit our dedicated Covid-19 hub.

The Shanghai office specialises in all aspects of international commercial maritime and admiralty law, corporate, ship sale and purchase, new buildings, ship repair and conversion, insurance, commodities and trade.

The office conducts litigation, arbitration and mediation in several jurisdictions and advises clients trading with and within China. It also advises on joint venture and inward investment projects throughout China. Henry Fung and Patrick Yeung, Partners in our Hong Kong office, also spend much of their time in our Shanghai office, supporting our PRC practice.
