Anthony specialises in competition law including regarding merger control and restructuring, EU law, data protection/privacy, public procurement, sanctions, export control, anti-bribery and anti-corruption, regulation, State aid, commercial contracts, intellectual property, information technology, digital trade and communications. He is admitted in England and Wales, the Republic of Ireland and the Dutch section of the Brussels Bar.

Anthony is a member of the City of London Solicitors Company's Committee on Commercial Law and its sub-committee on Brexit, the Steering Committee of the Procurement Lawyers Association and the Council of the European Maritime Law Organisation, as well as the Law Society's Competition Section, the UK Association for European Law and the Competition Law Association. He is also a Freeeman of the City of London Solicitors Company.

Anthony is frequently quoted in the press, and regularly gives presentations on his specialist areas.

Anthony was ranked 7 in the most influential top 10 lawyers worldwide by Lloyd's List for 2016, with his contributions on Brexit being highlighted. He is ranked in Chambers 2021 which states: "Anthony Woolich has a "huge amount of experience in competition law and offers very pragmatic advice", according to interviewees. He represents clients in a host of merger clearance procedures as well as CMA investigations and compliance matters." Chambers 2020 states: "Clients appreciate that Anthony Woolich's 'advice is clear, concise and is explained in terms that are easily understood by all levels and departments.' He often advises trade associations on the risk of anti-competitive conduct through the exchange of information. Woolich also advises on a wider range of compliance, merger control and sanctions topics as part of his role as head of HFW's competition law team." Chambers 2019 quoted clients as highlighting him for his “excellent analytical skills”. Chambers 2018 quoted clients as saying that he is "approachable, down-to-earth and fun to work with." In Chambers 2017 he was "described by a client as 'affable and approachable' and as someone who is 'thoughtful and doesn't rush to judgment'". Chambers 2016 referred to him as "the head of department at Holman Fenwick Willan LLP. Clients provide an array of praise. 'He is very experienced, with good instincts and a highly professional manner. He closely managed every stage of our project through to the end,' says one. Another stated: 'His technical knowledge is second to none.'" Chambers has previously recommended him as a "notable practitioner, earning acclaim for his 'in-depth knowledge' of a wide number of industries", and reported clients as saying that he is "'measured in his approach', according to impressed interviewees. Clients appreciate that 'he takes the time to consider and evaluate all details' and is able to 'think on his feet when it comes to linking the item for discussion with relevant issues'". He is "incredibly responsive and available, and always meets deadlines", and has "excellent client service".

Legal 500 2020 comments: "HFW has strength across the board in relation to state aid, competition litigation and issues concerning the interaction of EU law, commerce and competition"; and quoted clients saying "Anthony Woolich is very approachable and client-centric, has an excellent ability to analyse, and is able to use international connections very effectively". Legal 500 has previously commented that he is noted by clients for his "keen, analytical mind" and "good grasp of the commercial impact", with an "accessible", "practical" and "business-oriented" manner, heading the "professional", "responsive" and "client-focused" team at HFW, and quoted commentators saying that Anthony leads the "dedicated, invaluable" team at HFW, also describing him as "outstanding" and HFW's practice as "top-notch", that "the ‘highly intelligent, experienced, knowledgeable and responsive’ Anthony Woolich assists purchasers and suppliers in regulatory and commercial issues"; that "he knows the answers, knows the market, and gives pragmatic, commercial advice", that he is "experienced and business minded", and that he "exercises good judgment". He is also recommended as an expert in Who's Who Legal, which quotes commentators referring to his "first-class know-how" in sanctions.
