HFW supports Asia's first Illegal Charter Reporting System

HFW is supporting The Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA) in the launch of its illegal charter reporting system.

This is Asia's first industry-led initiative to directly address and combat the serious threats that illegal charter creates for the commercial viability of the business aviation industry as well as to the safety of the travelling public. AsBAA began formally collecting and reporting suspected illegal charter to civil aviation authorities in August 2021.

HFW has assisted AsBAA in establishing the framework for the illegal charter reporting system as well as providing further legal advice and assistance as and when needed.

This initiative follows the release of HFW's joint survey with AsBAA of their members on the illegal charter of business jets across the Asia Pacific region, which showed that illegal charters are causing significant damage to the industry and that regulators could be doing more to prevent them.

This is an important step in combatting illegal charter activity.
