International Trade Sanctions Seminar
HFW will be hosting a seminar focusing on the current EU, US and Swiss sanctions and trade restrictions.

Recent developments in Ukraine show that sanctions are increasingly becoming the "go-to" tool of international diplomacy. Sanctions have a number of benefits for politicians, as they can be imposed quickly and do not require "boots on the ground", but they impose a high burden on businesses engaged in international commerce to understand the nature of the restrictions, and carry out due diligence on counterparties, cargo, etc.
HFW Partner Daniel Martin and Associate William Hold will give an overview of the current EU, US and Swiss sanctions which are in place, with a focus on the recent Ukraine-related sanctions, as well as the current restrictions affecting trade with Syria and Iran, in light of the current suspension of some restrictions against Iran. They will also highlight how potential issues can be dealt with before they become real problems.
