About Dan

Dan is an international arbitration specialist and partner, based in HFW’s Singapore office, where he serves as both counsel and arbitrator for major arbitral institutions worldwide, in both common law and civil law jurisdictions. Recognised as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and with over 20 years of active practice, Dan focuses on resolving disputes through arbitration and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. He possesses deep experience of general commercial contract law, energy, mining and metals, climate change and carbon, as well as all aspects of AI and blockchain technology. He regularly represents major corporates globally, including multinational producers, trading companies, banks, exchanges, and Web3 project participants, on complex disputes and commercial advisory matters.

Frequently cited as an energy‑focused legal expert in key trade publications, Dan has advised on contentious and advisory risk management matters related to the energy transition and future energy. Having been based in Singapore since 2010, he possesses in‑depth knowledge of the dispute resolution landscape across Asia Pacific. Dan has led high‑value arbitrations under SIAC, ICC, LCIA, AAA‑ICDR Arbitration Rules, and ad hoc arbitrations seated in multiple jurisdictions. He is also an experienced mediation practitioner, having mediated numerous complex and multi‑party disputes.
