HFW hosts Construction Contract Variations book launch

On Wednesday 10 September, HFW hosted a party to celebrate the publication of Construction Contract Variations, a new construction law book by HFW Partners Michael Sergeant and Max Wieliczko.

The book is part of the series of specialist construction law books published by Informa Law and is the first to deal specifically with the issues surrounding changes to the scope of work on construction projects. Variations are a common cause of dispute under construction contracts and they are often central to issues surrounding delay, disruption, defects and termination.

All royalties for the book are being donated to the Lighthouse Club, the construction industry charity and Michael and Max were delighted to be able to present a cheque for £5250 (being the royalties to date), to Bill Hill, CEO of the Lighthouse Club, who commented: "Since 1956 the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity has been dedicated to the welfare and support of the construction community through times of hardship and difficulty. We receive no public funding and it is thanks to the generosity of organisations like HFW and the support of people like Michael Sergeant and Max Wieliczko that we can deliver our charitable work."

Michael Sergeant said: "It is great for us to be able to support the Lighthouse Club in all the excellent work it is involved in. The book has sold extremely well since it was published at the end of May and hopefully royalties will continue to provide a modest income stream for the charity."

Construction Contract Variations is published by Routledge for Informa Law. To order a copy of the book, please click here.
