HFW enhances Asia-Pacific admiralty capabilities with Partner move

Holman Fenwick Willan has announced that Hong Kong shipping Partner, Paul Apostolis, is moving to its Singapore office from 1 April 2013.

The move comes as HFW continues to recognise the importance of Singapore as a regional marine casualty dispute resolution centre and a hub from which to service its wide client base in Singapore and the region, following the recent appointment of Dominic Johnson as a Partner in that office.

Paul Hatzer, HFW's Asia-Pacific head and Hong Kong Managing Partner says: "with the untimely death of our resident admiralty partner, Bill Kerr, who had 15 years experience in Singapore, the firm is committed to maintaining its excellence in this field by moving Paul from our Hong Kong office to work alongside newly appointed Partner Dominic Johnson and Master Mariner Robert Spearing. As the largest shipping law firm in the region, we see a real need for increased manning in casualty response in Singapore, which is a rapidly developing market, a cross-roads of world trade, and a growing and very important offshore centre".

George Eddings, HFW's global head of shipping says: "Paul's move shows our further commitment to this important region. With this move, we now have a strong admiralty presence in all of our Asia-Pacific offices, stretching from Shanghai to Australia – capability that reinforces our market-leading position, and ensures our shipping and offshore clients in Asia-Pacific receive the absolute best from HFW at all times, whichever office they use".

Over the past 13 years, Paul has developed extensive experience of dealing with casualties in the region and has been involved in most of the major casualties to have occurred in this time. He is described in Chambers Global 2012 as a "masterful practitioner" and sources report he is "very good at investigations" and "takes up the largest wet cases in Hong Kong". He is also recommended in Chambers Asia Pacific 2012 and Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2012.
