More about James
James Harbridge is a partner in our Dubai office and has been based exclusively in the Middle East for the last 19 years.
He qualified as a lawyer in England in 1995, and has dedicated his legal career to the field of dispute resolution, which includes the following specialist areas: construction, taxation, employment law, lease disputes, franchise matters and insurance issues.
In July 1999, James relocated to Muscat, Oman to join a high-profile international law firm, where he became a partner in 2005.
In mid-2009, James established a highly successful litigation and arbitration practice for a different international law firm in Oman. As a result, he has regularly been acknowledged as a Tier 1 litigator by Chambers and Legal 500.
In short, James has approximately 17 years' Omani law experience, in both local Court cases and arbitration. He very much enjoys working with Arabist advocate colleagues, and is a great admirer of Arabic jurisprudence.
In mid-2016, James moved to Dubai to head the international dispute resolution practice of a well-known international law firm.
James has significant experience acting for multinational and Middle Eastern clients in a wide range of high-value and complex disputes, with particular expertise in construction arbitration and the Oman market.
Whilst James has historically accumulated an exceptional range of experience in a number of legal areas, today, James’ practice comprises 80 – 90 per cent construction dispute resolution.
Chambers Global 2019, one client described James as "an extremely responsible, courteous and knowledgeable individual."
James maintains a strong reputation in the Omani market, with clients observing that he is "an extremely responsive, courteous and knowledgeable lawyer who goes the extra mile to meet client expectations" (Chambers Global 2019).
James is qualified in England and Wales.
