HFW expands Asia-Pac presence with the launch of a new association

Global law firm HFW today announced the expansion of its Asia Pacific practice with the launch of a new association in Indonesia, taking the total number of lawyers working across the region to 104.

The firm will be working through an association with established local law practice Rahayu & Partners in Jakarta, offering clients strength across Banking, Finance and Capital Markets, Corporate Commercial, Construction, Dispute Resolution and Intellectual Property while expanding into HFW's core sectors including a focus on Aerospace, Commodities and Shipping.

Rahayu & Partners is led by founder Sri Rahayu (Ayu) who joins HFW as a Partner. Ayu has a strong reputation in the region in banking finance and corporate transactions and she will work closely with HFW Partners Haydn Dare and Brian Gordon. Haydn has more than 20 years of experience working in Indonesia and is widely regarded as one of leading international lawyers in Indonesia. Haydn specialises in merger and acquisition transactions, structuring foreign investment and in energy and mineral resources, infrastructure and project finance. Brian has also been working with clients in the region for a number of years across a wide range of industries with work specialising in corporate finance, cross border mergers and acquisition transactions and project finance. The combined strength of the firms will offer clients legal advice with a commercial understanding of the local business environment, alongside the strength of HFW's network of offices and specialist lawyers across the globe.

Richard Crump, HFW's Global Senior Partner said "We are delighted to have someone with Ayu's great reputation and experience joining the HFW partnership and forming our associated office in Jakarta. This cements our existing client relationships in Indonesia which we have in all our sectors and enables us to better serve our clients in offering local expertise whether in the context of Indonesian legal advice or in understanding the business environment and culture. This adds to our existing strong offering in South East Asia where we have been operating for more than 25 years".

Sri Rahayu, lead Partner in Jakarta commented "With business opportunities increasing in Indonesia across a range of industries, the association with HFW offers our clients strength and depth across a number of core sectors vital to grow our business in this vibrant economy".

This new association is the latest in HFW's expansion following three associations in 2016 in the Middle East and a recent merger with US firm Legge Farrow Kimmitt McGrath & Brown in Texas.
