HFW Continues Growth with Partner and Legal Director Promotions Across Global Network

Global, sector-focused law firm HFW has announced the promotion of four new partners and two new legal directors, effective 1 April 2022.

The promotions continue HFW's growth across its international network and core sectors, spanning America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pac, across the firm's global industry groups: aerospace, energy and resources, insurance, shipping, construction and commodities.

New Partners

James Jordan (Aerospace, Singapore)

James tackles complex legal issues in the aerospace, transportation, logistics, and insurance sectors. James provides the full range of services to aviation clients from dispute resolution to commercial contract drafting as well as regulatory advice.

Lucy Chen (Shipping, Shanghai)

Lucy focuses on shipping and trading including charterparties (time charter, voyage charter, bareboat charter and COAs etc.), ship sale and purchase transactions, ship building and repair contracts, marine casualties, bills of lading disputes, marine insurance, ship financing and trading contracts amongst others. (Lucy's promotion is subject to relevant regulatory approval.)

Sophy Woodward (Insurance & Reinsurance, Melbourne)

Sophy represents clients involved in complex disputes, particularly contested insurance claims. She regularly acts for clients in the construction, mining and resources industries. She also advises clients on risk management, insurance coverage and regulatory requirements. After lengthy secondments to BHP and Transurban, she has industry knowledge and a commercial approach.

William Gidman (Shipping, London)

William is a commercial shipping lawyer who advises on contracts and disputes for the full life cycle of shipping from shipbuilding, chartering, bunkering and S&P to green recycling. He has particular experience in the LNG sector. His clients include owners, charterers and insurers and are largely based in Europe and the Middle East.

New Legal Directors

Anas Al Tarawneh (Shipping, Dubai)

Anas specialises in commercial dispute resolution in the Middle East, focusing on litigation in the shipping and logistics sector. This includes handling disputes relating to carriage of goods by sea, road and air, charterparties, shipping agencies and ship arrests. Anas also handles and manages banking disputes, sale and purchase contract disputes, recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards and criminal claims arising out of casualties and work related injuries.

Christie Tsui (Shipping, Hong Kong)

Christie works in our Shipping department, where she is primarily involved in shipping and international trade litigation and arbitration, in particular complex charterparty disputes. She works closely with owners, operators and traders in China/Asia-Pacific trades. Christie speaks fluent English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
