About Ben

Ben advises clients across the spectrum of maritime decarbonisation legal issues. He also specialises in maritime trade disputes, positioning him to advise clients on emerging decarbonisation and sustainability-related disputes.

Ben’s transactional decarbonisation experience includes:

  • Advising an international shipping company on contractual and other issues relating to a large-scale, carbon insetting project involving the consumption of EU RED II-certified biofuels.
  • Advising owners and charterers on contractual issues relating to CII, EU ETS and FuelEU Maritime, including under time and voyage charterparties.
  • Drafting FuelEU Maritime pooling agreements on behalf of an owner operating LNG-fuelled vessels.

Ben’s contentious decarbonisation experience includes:

  • Advising clients in relation to disputes relating to payment for EU ETS Allowances under time and trip-time charterparties.
  • Advising an energy company in relation to the negotiation of CII provisions, under long-term LNG time charterparties.

Ben is qualified in England and Wales and speaks English (native), Italian (advanced) and French (basic).
