About Ruth
Ruth is Knowledge Counsel in HFW’s Shipping team, based in London. Ruth focuses on knowledge management, working closely with HFW’s shipping lawyers worldwide to deliver legal training, develop knowledge resources and solutions, and support firmwide initiatives across multiple jurisdictions. Ruth has written and contributed to various industry publications, coordinated projects and events, and provides legal support for the shipping sustainability team.
Prior to joining HFW, Ruth was a senior lawyer in the shipping group of a large international law firm, acting for owners, operators, charterers, traders, shipbuilders and P&I Clubs on a wide range of multi-jurisdictional and multi-party disputes including charterparty and cargo disputes, shipbuilding, ship management and sale and purchase disputes, as well as related security and enforcement issues.
Ruth has undertaken a secondment with a large commodities trading house, and worked as a senior lawyer for the Government Legal Department, advising on commercial and procurement law, including maritime contracts.
Ruth is a qualified in England and Wales and speaks English (native), Spanish (advanced) and French (intermediate).
