About Ben
Ben is an associate in HFW’s London shipping team. Since 2022 he has advised clients across the spectrum of maritime sustainability legal issues, including:
- regulatory compliance (IMO CII, NZF; EU ETS, FuelEU, REDII / III; UK ETS) and related contractual issues under charterparties, sale contracts, MOAs, COAs and pooling agreements;
- voluntary carbon market initiatives in the maritime sector;
- contractual issues relating to the sale, bunkering and consumption of biofuels (including POS documentation and environmental attributes); and
- issues relating to the transportation of CO2 as a cargo.
Complementing the above, Ben specialises in dry shipping and commodities arbitration (LMAA, SIAC, LCIA, GAFTA) and English Commercial Court litigation, positioning him uniquely to advise clients on both conventional maritime trade and emerging, sustainability-related disputes.
Ben has a personal interest in the digitalisation of maritime and commodities operations, including the advent of smart contracts.
