About Tom
Tom is a Senior Associate in HFW’s Shipping team based in London. He specialises in shipping (wet and dry) and cyber law. Tom advises shipowners, charterers, salvors, P&I Clubs, H&M insurers, commodity traders, brokers, logistics companies, and government agencies on a wide range of disputes.
His casualty and technical experience covers fires, collisions, groundings, cargo contamination, charter parties, bills of lading, live export, undersea cables, and the salvage and wreck removal of commercial and historic vessels, including the MAERSK SURABAYA, THAMESBORG, SPIRIT OF TASMANIA I, HMAS OTAMA, AND FRONTIER UNITY.
Tom represents clients in the English High Court, LMAA, LOF, and LCIA arbitration, and Australian civil and criminal proceedings, with vessel experience including the SPIRIT OF TASMANIA, GOLIATH, and MAERSK SURABAYA.
He also advises on cyber incidents (ransomware, data breaches, and regulatory response) and fraud asset recovery matters.
Tom has previously been seconded to an International Group P&I Club and a global logistics group. Prior to joining HFW, he gained commercial experience of the Asian bulker market working for a Hong Kong-listed shipping company.
He is admitted in New South Wales, Australia, and speaks English and Swedish.
