About Helen
Helen is a partner in HFW’s international construction team, based in Singapore. She specialises in construction dispute avoidance and resolution and draws on her abundant ‘hands on’ experience in dealing with various stakeholders throughout the full life cycle of international construction projects.
She supports clients as a one-stop service provider across contracts (principally, design and build, EPC contracts, and PPP contracts) claim preparation, negotiation, settlement, arbitrations and litigation across multiple sectors including oil and gas production facilities, process plants, metro, roads, railways, bridges, power plants (including lignite and hydro electric power plants). Her experience has been global, but with a particular focus on the Middle East, and across Asia-Pacific.
Prior to joining HFW, Helen was General Counsel and Head of Global Legal (Vice President) at a top-ranked construction company in South Korea. In this role, she developed very significant experience of managing global M&A transactions, and supporting successful post-merger integration.
Helen was recognised in 2019 as an Innovative Lawyer by the Financial Times in the field of “innovation in operation; new business and service delivery model”. She is appointed as a member of ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR and is an arbitrator of the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board. Helen also sits as a board member and vice chairperson of legal subcommittee for The Korean Chamber of Commerce in Singapore (KOCHAM). She is also a co-author of “Claim Management for Project Success”.
