More about Richard

Richard covers insurance and reinsurance and, in particular, he handles high value and/or complex claims. With a strong background in professional indemnity and liability work Richard has branched into marine, construction, energy and ISR (including business interruption, delay in start-up, and ALOP). He is highly experienced in both direct insurance and reinsurance/retrocessions. Current high profile matters in which he is instructed include the Victorian bushfires class action litigation and various high value Queensland flood claims.

He also advises on brokers' E&O, Directors & Officers' liability, insurance architecture (including captives) and contract certainty.

Richard is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIAB), a member of Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA) and an associate member of the Australia New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF).

He is dual qualified in Australia and England.

Richard is highly recommended by Chambers and Legal 500 for his insurance work in Australia for "his rich legal knowledge" and is "particularly skilled at handling high-value cases". Sources say "his work is excellent to the point that [they] have engaged him on behalf of other clients" and consider him to be a "responsive, hard working, technically competent and articulate" lawyer. Richard's excellent client care and quality of service has been recognised through a Client Choice award for Insurance in 2016.
