More about Claire

Claire is a Master Mariner, having spent nine years at sea on large passenger vessels and ro-ro freight ferries before qualifying as a lawyer in England and Wales.

Claire advises on all aspects of "wet" litigation arising from marine casualties, including jurisdiction, limitation and apportionment of liability, with particular expertise in collisions, salvage and general average. She also advises shipowners and financial institutions on their emergency response procedures for physical trading, including planning and conducting table-top exercises.

As one of the firm's casualty investigators, Claire regularly travels overseas to attend vessels/companies in the immediate aftermath of an incident to collect evidence and provide logistical support. She has current BOSIET and MIST qualifications, required to attend platforms and supply vessels in the offshore industry.

Claire recently completed a secondment to an International Group P&I Club, bolstering her "dry" claims experience.

The London office is the firm's largest, with over 250 lawyers.

It offers the full range of services that HFW provides globally, with partners from the London office working closely with all the other HFW offices, as well as in many jurisdictions around the world. HFW moved to its current premises in September 2008, having previously been in nearby Lloyds Avenue for almost 100 years.
