More about Claire

Claire's practice encompasses all aspects of crisis response and ensuing "wet" litigation arising from marine casualties, including jurisdiction, limitation and apportionment of liability, with a particular focus on collisions, groundings and salvage. She also advises shipowners and financial institutions on their emergency response procedures for physical trading, including planning and conducting table-top exercises.

Claire has supported clients with large scale casualty management for a number of the firm's high profile cases, particularly those involving mass fatalities and natural disasters.

As one of the firm's casualty investigators, Claire regularly travels overseas to attend vessels/companies in the immediate aftermath of an incident to collect evidence and provide logistical support.

Prior to joining the firm, Claire spent nine years at sea with P&O/Princess Cruises, obtaining her Master Mariner qualification. As such, Claire is a subject matter expert on the navigation, stability and safety management of large cruise vessels and is a core member of HFW's Travel and Leisure Team. She has also completed a secondment to an International Group P&I Club.

We are working with clients across our international network to help them minimise the impact of COVID-19 on their business and to prepare for what's next. To find out more, visit our dedicated Covid-19 hub.

The London office is the firm's largest, with over 250 lawyers.

It offers the full range of services that HFW provides globally, with partners from the London office working closely with all the other HFW offices, as well as in many jurisdictions around the world. HFW moved to its current premises in September 2008, having previously been in nearby Lloyds Avenue for almost 100 years.
