HFW wins five China Business Law Awards for excellence in Aviation, Construction, Insurance, Family Wealth Management and Shipping

Global, sector-focused law firm HFW has been recognised as a leading firm across five categories at the China Business Law Journal’s China Business Law Awards 2026, securing honours in Aviation, Construction and Infrastructure, Insurance & Reinsurance, Family Wealth Management, and Shipping.

This marks the tenth consecutive year that HFW has received awards in both Aviation and Shipping, underlining the firm’s sustained market leadership in these sectors.

The China Business Law Awards are based on hundreds of nominations from China-focused corporate counsel and legal professionals worldwide. Firms are assessed based on their submissions, client endorsements, and industry nominations, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of performance and reputation.

Peter Murphy, Hong Kong Office Head, HFW: “Being recognised across five categories at the China Business Law Awards is a strong endorsement of the depth and breadth of our practice, as well as our continued leadership in key sectors.

“We are proud to support our clients on their most complex and high-profile mandates, and these awards reflect the quality of our team, the trust our clients place in us, and the lasting relationships we have built across the region.”

HFW was among the first international law firms to establish a presence in Greater China, opening its Hong Kong office 48 years ago. The firm expanded to Shanghai in 1999 and, in 2016, became only the second international law firm to enter a formal association with a Chinese firm under the Shanghai FTZ rules, partnering with Wintell & Co. HFW further strengthened its regional offering with the launch of its Shenzhen office in early 2024.

The firm moved to new office premises in Hong Kong in 2025, and continues to invest in the Greater China region, with the appointment of a partner specialising in commercial litigation, arbitration and regulatory investigations in Hong Kong in March 2026, followed by the promotion of a Legal Director and five Senior Associates in April.

HFW has 21 partners and more than 80 lawyers across its three Greater China offices, supporting clients on complex, cross-border matters throughout the region.
