HFW Middle East Aviation Conference 2026: Markets, mobility and momentum
We were pleased to welcome more than 250 professionals from across the aviation, insurance, regulatory, and technology sectors to HFW’s Middle East Aviation Conference, held on 12 February 2026 at the Hilton Dubai Palm Jumeirah.
This year’s conference brought together industry leaders for a day of discussion, analysis, and networking, exploring the trends, challenges, and opportunities shaping the future of aviation in the Middle East. Delegates joined us from across the region and beyond to take part in an engaging programme covering topics ranging from market dynamics and risk to innovation and advanced air mobility.
The future of urban mobility and electric air taxis
A standout session in this year’s programme examined one of the most exciting developments in the aviation sector: the rise of electric air taxis and their potential to transform urban travel in the Middle East.
We were delighted to welcome Anthony El Khoury, UAE General Manager at Joby Aviation, who shared insights into the company’s pioneering work in electric vertical take‑off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and the forthcoming flying taxi operations planned for Dubai. Drawing on his experience in leading high‑growth operations at Uber, Sonder and KingMakers, as well as advising early-stage technology companies, Anthony explored how Joby is working with the UAE’s civil aviation regulator the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), Road Transport Authority (RTA) and vertiport infrastructure specialists Skyports to bring the world’s first commercial air taxi operations to life in the UAE later this year.
The session was expertly moderated by Brandy Scott, Senior Presenter at Dubai Eye 103.8 and co‑host of The Business Breakfast. With more than 20 years’ experience across radio, print and digital media—including interviews with global political leaders, business figures and innovators—Brandy brought valuable regional perspective and commercial insight to the discussion.
Together, Anthony and Brandy offered a forward‑looking exploration of advanced air mobility and what the integration of electric air taxis could mean for the region’s aviation ecosystem, urban infrastructure, and long-term mobility strategies.
Following this session, our AAM panel, comprising representatives from the GCAA, Skyports, advanced technology insurers and regulatory experts, explored how the UAE has developed the infrastructural and regulatory frameworks required to support fully integrated Advanced Air Mobility operations and position itself at the forefront of this emerging sector.
Turning adversity into strength — Building resilient and inclusive teams
We were also honoured to welcome Jessica Smith OAM PLY as a keynote speaker. A Paralympian, author, global keynote speaker and Inclusion and Accessibility Consultant—as well as a 2024 UN SDG Action Awards Judge—Jessica delivered an inspiring session titled “Turning Adversity into Strength.”
Drawing on her lived experience, her international work supporting organisations, and her time at Dubai Airports, Jessica explored how resilience, inclusion and authenticity can drive high performance in fast‑moving and highly regulated industries such as aviation.
Her session offered practical strategies for:
- Cultivating resilient teams able to adapt to rapid change
- Embedding inclusion as a driver of organisational performance
- Leveraging lived experience to strengthen leadership and culture
- Building workplaces that empower diverse talent to thrive
Jessica’s insights resonated strongly with delegates, offering timely lessons for aviation and insurance organisations navigating a period of continued transformation and increasing complexity.
Regional economic, geopolitical and insurance insights
A number of delegates highlighted the value of the sessions examining the current regional landscape, including economic outlooks, geopolitical developments and insurance trends influencing aviation across the Middle East.
Particular emphasis was placed on Saudi Arabia, where large‑scale national programmes, fleet expansion and infrastructure investment continue to reshape the region’s aviation narrative. These sessions provided essential context for stakeholders navigating an increasingly complex operating environment.
More moments from across the conference
Alongside the formal programme, some of the most valuable conversations took place around it. With the support of McLarens and elseco, our pre‑ and post‑conference receptions created space for delegates, speakers and partners to connect, exchange perspectives and continue discussions beyond the sessions themselves. From conversations that kicked off the conference to reflections as it drew to a close, these moments captured the collaborative spirit of the event and the strength of the aviation and insurance community in the Middle East.
