About William
William is a Partner in HFW’s Shipping team. He is a disputes and advisory lawyer covering all contracts concerning the full lifecycle of a vessel from shipbuilding, chartering and managing through to end-of-life green recycling. The shipping contracts William covers include charterparties, bills of lading, vessel sharing agreements, ship management contracts, pools and traditional and sustainable fuel supply contracts (including LNG and biomethane). His expertise also expands into international trade and he regularly advises some of the leading trading houses and mining companies on sales contracts and other issues relating to the transportation of their cargo.
William has particular expertise in the LNG, tanker and containership markets for both owners and charterers. Recently, he has led HFW’s response to USTR related issues and is also the chair-person of HFW’s new (and widely acclaimed) Commercial Shipping Breakfast series.
He was part of the drafting committee for the Bimco Conwartime and Voywar 2025 clauses.
Earlier in his career, William was based in our Singapore office as well as completing a 6-month secondment with an International Group P&I Club in London.
William is qualified in England and Wales.
