About Tunde

Tunde advises clients on shipping, energy and commodities disputes (both litigation and arbitration) with a focus on contractual disputes including charterparties, joint venture agreements, joint operation agreements, sales disputes and cargo claims governed by English or Nigerian law. He represents international and Nigerian oil companies, ship owners, charterers and insurers globally but has a particular geographical focus on the Nigerian and West African market. He has recently assisted the successful bidders on Nigeria’s recent marginal field bid round. He has also appeared before the Nigeran courts where he successfully argued for the recognition by the courts of an English High Court judgment.

Tunde also assists HFW’s Complex Environments and Admiralty teams with kidnap and ransom matters. He has played a key role in resolving several hijacking, kidnapping and detention cases in West Africa. He has also assisted with several wet shipping disputes including collisions, groundings and general average incidents.

Tunde is dual qualified (English and Nigerian law). He was called to the Bar (England and Wales) in 2005 before qualifying as a Solicitor (England and Wales) in 2010. In 2017, Tunde was also called to the Nigerian Bar.
