About Jenny
Jenny is a Legal Director in HFW’s Shipping team. She is fluent in Greek and specialises in wet and dry shipping law, offshore shipping contracts, and marine insurance.
Her expertise includes advising shipowners, charterers, cargo interests and salvors on a wide range of shipping matters, including charterparty and bill of lading disputes, casualty response, and limitation issues under the 1976 Convention.
She has particular expertise in marine insurance, advising insurers and shipowners/managers on disputes involving hull and machinery, war risks, kidnap and ransom policies, and P&I coverage, as well as third party claims against insurers and subrogated actions. Jenny has particular experience handling war risks disputes, having advised on the resolution of numerous claims arising out of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, including detention claims and sue and labour claims. Jenny also supports insurers and brokers in drafting and updating policy terms, including by drafting amendments to reflect developments in insurance law and practice and to respond to geopolitical developments. She frequently delivers presentations on topical marine insurance issues and has completed a secondment with the marine and energy claims team of a leading London insurer.
She has extensive experience in arbitration and litigation before the High Court and Court of Appeal, and acted for the successful Respondents in the Supreme Court in The Polar (Herculito Maritime Ltd and others v Gunvor International BV and others, UKSC/2022/0009).Â
Jenny is qualified in England and Wales and spent two years in our Piraeus office.
