About Giles

Giles Kavanagh was elected as HFW’s new Global Senior Partner on 1 April 2022. He works closely with the firm’s Managing Partner and the Management Board in overseeing the firm’s strategy and operations, and he is responsible for chairing the firm’s partnership.

Giles previously headed HFW’s global Aerospace group between 2011 and 2022.

As a lawyer, Giles represented airlines, manufacturers, airports and other entities in the aviation service/supply chain. Giles’ contentious work includes commercial court litigation as well as arbitration and mediation. He is an accredited arbitrator. His non-contentious work involves regulatory and commercial advice to airlines and manufacturers.

Chambers UK 2017 says “Great lawyer” Giles Kavanagh (Band 1) heads the firm’s global aerospace team, and has substantial experience representing major airlines, manufacturers and insurers in contentious and non-contentious matters. Chambers 2019 notes Giles (Band 1) as “a great front man with a statesmanlike presence .. and an impressive client roster including insurers, manufacturers, international airlines and flag carriers.” Legal 500 UK Travel 2019 notes Giles’ expertise in regulatory disputes.

Giles is the Legal Adviser to the International Union of Aerospace Insurers and a former Chairman of the Royal Aeronautical Society’s Air Law Group Committee.
