About Catriona
Catriona is a Registered Foreign Lawyer in HFW’s global Knowledge team, supporting our offices in the British Virgin Islands, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Singapore and their clients. She is involved in firmwide knowledge management and legal training projects and works closely with HFW’s Fraud & Insolvency team.
Prior to working in knowledge management, Catriona was a disputes fee earner and has a broad experience of general commercial litigation work, including corporate and personal insolvency, corporate disputes, professional indemnity claims and debt recovery work. She regularly advised creditors, liquidators, receivers, company directors, trustees and registered agents in complex, cross border disputes and insolvencies. Catriona has a keen interest in ADR, in particular mediation and arbitration.
Catriona qualified in Scotland in 2009 and is a member of the Law Society of Scotland. Catriona relocated to the British Virgin Islands in 2015 and was admitted as a BVI Legal Practitioner in 2016. During her time in the BVI, Catriona’s practice focussed on commercial litigation and insolvency law. She was a director of the Restructuring & Insolvency Specialist Association BVI from April 2017 to April 2019.
Catriona moved to Hong Kong in 2021, advising on BVI and Cayman law disputes and insolvency & restructuring matters, and is a Registered Foreign Lawyer, regulated by the Law Society of Hong Kong. Catriona was a director of the Hong Kong chapter of IWIRC from August 2021 to June 2022.
In 2024, Catriona was appointed to the Women in Business Committee of the British Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong.
