About Alex
Alex is a Partner in HFW’s Construction team. He advises on risk allocation, prepares contracts and advises on legal issues arising from all contractual aspects of project delivery.
He acts for clients in all aspects of dispute resolution including pre-dispute strategy, informal resolution and formal dispute resolution processes including adjudication, arbitration, expert determination and litigation.
His legal passions include the effective management and mitigation of project risk and efficient, cost-effective and proportionate dispute resolution.
Alex has extensive experience in all jurisdictions in eastern Australia, acting for clients across major infrastructure projects such as Citylink and Eastlink, commercial and residential developments, process engineering facilities spanning biodiesel, pharmaceutical and stockfeed operations, as well as mining and ore‑processing projects involving copper, uranium, gold and iron ore, including work on Australia’s only nuclear facility. He has also prepared and advised extensively on all major forms of construction contracts used throughout Australia and the Asia‑Pacific region, and brings significant expertise in advising on, adjudicating and litigating security of payment matters across all Australian states, having even co‑authored an industry handbook on the relevant legislation.
