HFW Partner and Global Head of Construction, Carolyn Chudleigh, has been recognised by Australasian Lawyer in their Elite Women list 2021.
Australasian Lawyer’s list celebrates 50 female leaders in the legal industry who have excelled throughout an unusually challenging year and who are making great strides in shaping a new future for the sector. Their achievements highlight the innovative role of women in law, and inspire others to uphold diversity, gender equality, and inclusiveness in the workplace.
Carolyn is a highly regarded legal practitioner in the property development sector and the first woman to lead HFW’s global construction practice, which comprises 20 partners and more than 70 lawyers across the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific.
She is also the head of HFW’s Sydney office as well as the Global Diversity and Equality Partner on HFW’s Management Board.
In addition to Carolyn’s management and leadership responsibilities, she has a busy practice supervising a high-performing team of lawyers and business services executives. Her practice focuses on the real estate development and financing aspects of major projects, in particular corporate structuring and land tenure creation, complex land titling structures, foreign direct and indirect investment and private mergers and acquisitions. Carolyn has particular expertise in drafting and negotiating complex project documents with a focus on joint ventures, commercial contracts and investment structures.
Carolyn advises developers and owners on mixed use real estate projects, agribusiness investments, social infrastructure projects, in-land intermodal and transport hubs (transport oriented development) and the structuring and delivery of new town centres. She also acts for listed and unlisted real estate investment funds and financiers.
