Global, sector-focused law firm HFW has been ranked by The Times as one of the UK’s top commercial disputes practices.

The Times describes HFW as “one of the market’s largest and most active disputes practices”, referencing independent data that reveals it to consistently handle more commercial litigation cases in the English Commercial Court than any other law firm.

HFW has more than 350 disputes lawyers across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific, specialising in high-value, complex, multi-party and multi-jurisdictional disputes, with a particular focus on commercial litigation, fraud and asset recovery, insolvency, investigations, and enforcement actions.

HFW has further strengthened its global commercial disputes offering over the past 12 months, launching in the British Virgin Islands with the acquisition of a leading disputes business; bringing in a top team in Australia from elite US law firm Quinn Emanuel, led by the former State Solicitor for Western Australia; and adding another partner in Hong Kong.

The Times also notes that HFW “helps clients achieve their sustainability goals, from energy transition and offshore wind to climate finance”. The firm is a founding member and signatory of both the Greener Litigation Pledge and the Greener Arbitration Campaign – legal industry initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of dispute resolution.

The rankings are based on a survey of more than 4,400 solicitors across England, Wales and Scotland. Less than 3% of law firms recommended by respondents made it into the final rankings.

HFW has now been ranked every year since The Times first published its report.
