HFW partner Rory Butler has been named one of the 100 most influential people in the shipping industry and one of the market’s top 10 lawyers.
Leading trade publication Lloyd’s List said the list represents “the very best legal minds across maritime law”.
One of the barristers surveyed by Lloyd’s List for the report said that Rory gets “top billing” among shipping lawyers and is “virtually ubiquitous at the moment”.
Rory specialises in multi-jurisdictional shipping disputes, covering both dry and admiralty matters. He recently acted for Russian shipping company Sovcomflot in a successful cargo sale action against Venezuelan state-owned oil and gas company PDVSA – the first time that such a sale order has been contested in the English Courts.
Craig Neame, Head of Shipping, HFW: “I’m really happy to see Rory receive this well-deserved accolade. Rory is an outstanding lawyer – I never cease to be impressed by his technical knowledge, tireless work ethic and his dedication to his clients.”
