HFW’s Alexandra Forrest and Justine Barthe-Dejean have been named among the 18 most influential young lawyers in Singapore for 2021.

Singapore Business Review’s “legal luminaries” showcases the most promising lawyers aged 40 or under. This year, two thirds of the list are women.

Alexandra is a Senior Associate in our Singapore office who specialises in aviation and shipping finance. She advises lessors, banks, owners and operators in the financing and leasing of aircraft, aircraft engines, corporate jets and ships. Alexandra is Singapore’s representative on the firm’s global associate counsel, the founding member of the HFW Singapore office’s Corporate Responsibility focus Group, and actively works to improve cross-border relationships in the shipping and aviation sectors.

Alexandra Forrest, Senior Associate, said:

“I’m really passionate about using my in-depth knowledge across the full breadth of aircraft and ship trading, financing and leasing transactions in an array of jurisdictions across the region. It’s a pleasure to be recognised by Singapore Business Review.”

Justine is a Senior Associate with the Commodities team whose practice focuses on complex transactions and disputes in the energy and commodities sector. Justine has acted for clients in international arbitration (SIAC, HKIAC, ICC, LCIA, FOSFA and ad‐hoc) and in the English High Court, involving joint ventures, commodities sale and purchase agreements, contracts of carriage, trade finance arrangements and trade insurance policies. She has recently developed a significant expertise in the voluntary carbon markets, both on the transactional and on the disputes side.

Justine Barthe-Dejean, Senior Associate, said:

“It means a lot to be recognised for my work by Singapore Business Review, especially among such great company. Recent highlights of mine include consolidating my expertise in the LNG space, and helping client’s transition towards sustainable solutions in the carbon trading space.”
