Global, sector-focused law firm HFW has strengthened its market-leading aerospace practice with the hire of Partner Guy Marrison.

Guy specialises in aviation and aviation finance disputes, advising lessors, airlines, and banks and funds, and joins HFW’s London office from Hogan Lovells.

HFW’s global aerospace practice now comprises 22 Partners and 100 lawyers in total across Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and the Americas. The team advise clients throughout the industry – including more than 100 airlines around the world – on all aspects of aviation liability, dispute resolution, regulatory, finance and leasing, and business and private aviation.

David Brotherton, Global Head of Aerospace, HFW:

“Guy is an outstanding addition to our team. He brings genuine expertise and experience in complex, high-value aviation-focused commercial litigation, which is increasingly rare in the market, and is a growth area for our global aerospace practice. We are very pleased to welcome him to HFW.”

Edward Spencer, Head of Aerospace Insurance & Disputes, HFW:

“Guy is a highly regarded practitioner and I am looking forward to working with him to broaden further our disputes capability for clients across the aviation sector, and to build on the team’s enhanced commercial court profile following our recent success in the Russian aircraft litigation.”

Guy has deep expertise advising on litigation and investigations in highly regulated sectors, with a particular focus on aviation and financial services.

He advises a broad range of clients in the aviation sector, including aircraft and engine lessors and lenders, on disputes arising from contractual claims, including financing and delivery / technical disputes, repossessions, enforcement and regulatory action, fraud and contentious insolvencies.

His experience spans complex, high-value claims in the English High Court and Court of Appeal, and multi-jurisdictional investigations and related litigation arising from regulatory actions brought by the FCA, SEC, DOJ, EC, and JFTC.

Guy Marrison, Partner, HFW:

“I am thrilled to be joining the market-leading aerospace team at HFW. The firm’s sector-based approach, deep industry knowledge, and excellent aviation client base were major draws for me; and having learned more about the firm’s collaborative and high-performance culture, I’m even more excited to work alongside the team and contribute to its continued success.”

HFW is ranked in Band 1 for aviation by legal directories Legal 500 and Chambers, and is consistently among the most active law firms in the English Commercial Court, with a higher win rate than any other top litigation practice, according to independent data from litigation analytics company Solomonic.
