Global sector-focused law firm HFW has underlined its commitment to improving access to justice by formalising its pro bono work in Singapore
Spearheaded by Louise Tan, an Associate in our Commodities practice, members of the pro bono group will attend the monthly clinic in districts across Singapore, advising on matters relating to matrimonial, contractual and tortious issues.
The volunteers are composed of Singapore-qualified lawyers in HFW’s Singapore office and AsiaLegal LLC, HFW’s Formal Law Alliance firm in Singapore.
Gregory Vijayendran, Chairman of the Law Society Pro Bono Services:
“We are very pleased that HFW AsiaLegal has demonstrated invaluable support to fulfil our mission of facilitating access to justice for the needy and vulnerable in society.
HFW AsiaLegal (HFW’s Singapore office) has helmed our community legal clinics as an anchor firm from July 2019 onwards. Passionate pro bono lawyer volunteers in the Singapore office are serving the indigent heartlanders in these legal clinics.
Through a road map of practical legal steps shared during the clinic consultations, the lives of the least, the last and the lost in law are unmistakeably impacted for the better.
It is very encouraging to see our junior lawyers giving their valuable time and talent for pro bono work. Law Soc Pro Bono Services is grateful for their partnering with us in our mission.”
Kate Seaton, Partner and Corporate Responsibility Partner for HFW’s Singapore office:
“I am proud of our Associates who have proactively taken on this commitment to serve our community.
Increasing access to justice is one of the key pillars of our Corporate Responsibility strategy.
Our Singapore-qualified lawyers’ participation in this will further our aims of giving back to the communities in which we work and live.”
