Global, sector-focused law firm HFW has been appointed to the DIFC Courts Users’ Committee – an independent liaison body between the Courts and users that is tasked with building the profile of the Courts and helping ensure that the service provided is cost-effective, professional and fit-for-purpose.
HFW is one of just three international law firms on the Committee, having been voted in by the other Committee members and the Chief Justice of the DIFC Courts. The Committee also consists of members from the Courts, the DIFC Authority, the DFSA and local law firms.
Commercial disputes partner Nick Braganza, who joined HFW’s Dubai office in January 2021 as part of the continued growth of its global litigation practice, will represent the firm on the Committee.
Nick Braganza, Partner, HFW:
“We are immensely proud at HFW to have been appointed to this important role and we look forward to working with the other committee members to help further the development of what is already an outstanding venue for commercial dispute resolution in the Middle East.”
HFW is one of the most active users of the DIFC Courts and has handled more than AED500 million worth of civil and commercial claims before the Courts since 2017, including financial services, shareholder and joint venture, real estate, employment and re/insurance disputes, fraud, insolvency and enforcement matters.
HFW has been in the Middle East since 2006 and now has offices in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Kuwait City and Riyadh, making it one of the largest practices of any international law firm in the region.
