Global, sector-focused law firm HFW has again been ranked by The Times among the UK’s best law firms.
The Times said that HFW is “renowned for shipping and maritime work”, and noted that the firm’s lawyers have been instructed on some of the market’s “most significant and high-profile” matters over the past 12 months.
The rankings are based on a survey of more than 4,600 solicitors across England and Wales. Less than 2% of law firms recommended by respondents made it into the final rankings.
HFW has now been ranked every year since The Times first published its report.
Paul Dean, Global Head of Shipping, HFW:
“We are very pleased to have the strength and breadth of our global shipping and maritime offering recognised by The Times. We pride ourselves on our deep industry expertise, and on providing our clients with the best possible service. I’d like to thank our clients for their continued trust, and everyone in the HFW shipping team for their hard work and dedication.”
HFW has the market’s largest shipping and maritime law practice, and has been serving clients in the industry for more than 135 years.
The firm has over 200 shipping lawyers and Master Mariners across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific, specialising in dry shipping, admiralty and crisis management, and transactional work.
It represents the full spectrum of those involved in the industry, including shipowners and charterers, P&I Clubs, banks, international agencies, shipyards, marine insurance underwriters, governments and brokers across the entire shipping life cycle, from design to recycling.
HFW recently boosted its practice with the hire of senior partner Paolo Ghirardani, who headed the global marine and international trade team at Stephenson Harwood for 15 years.
The firm has won several major shipping industry awards, including the most recent Lloyds List’s Global Excellence in Maritime Law award, which recognises the world’s best shipping practice.
