Global, sector-focused law firm HFW has advised Toronto Stock Exchange-listed Savaria Corporation on its acquisition of Garaventa Accessibility AG.

HFW brought together a team of specialist lawyers across its Geneva, London, Shanghai and Houston offices to advise personal mobility company Savaria, which has agreed to acquire all of the issued and outstanding shares of Switzerland-based wheelchair lift manufacturer Garaventa for CHF 74 million.

HFW’s team included lead partner Georges Racine, senior associate William Hold, associates Jennifer Pelosi and Viti Plange, and trainee Nick Wright (Geneva); partner Anthony Woolich, associates Mark Devlin and Felicity Burling, and trainee Gordon Rieck (London); partner Glenn Legge and associates Karen Conticello and Susan Swanson (Houston); and partner Nicholas Poynder, associates Jean Cao and Thilo Jahn, and paralegals Ruby Li and Andrea Chen (Shanghai).

Savaria also received Canadian legal advice from Blake, Cassels & Graydon.

The transaction will be funded through a combination of cash on hand and the corporation’s line of credit. For more information, visit: https://globenewswire.com/news-release/2018/07/10/1535610/0/en/Savaria-to-Acquire-Garaventa-Lift-and-Create-a-Global-Leader-in-Accessibility.html

The deal follows HFW’s advice to The Pallet Network on its £52.8 million sale to Eddie Stobart Logistics plc by mid-market private equity firm LDC.

The firm also recently advised private equity firm Livingbridge on the management buyout of Coversure Insurance Services Group; the sellers of a majority stake in Miles Smith Insurance Group to private equity firm Pollen Street Capital; Coverys on its acquisition of R&Q Managing Agency; and MGA Sciemus on an investment by Hudson Structured Capital Management.

HFW also acted on the acquisitions of CORGI Homeplan and CETA Insurance.
