Global, sector-focused law firm HFW has seen five partners named in The Legal 500’s inaugural Hall of Fame UK.

The Legal 500, a leading legal directory, says that the award “highlights individuals who have received constant praise by their clients for continued excellence” and who are “at the pinnacle of the profession”.

To be considered, individuals must have been recognised by The Legal 500 as a market-leading lawyer for eight of the last ten years.

The HFW partners joining The Legal 500’s UK Hall of Fame are:

  • Andrew Bandurka (Insurance)
  • Noel Campbell (Fraud and Insolvency)
  • James Gosling (Shipping)
  • Hugh Livingstone (Shipping)
  • Brian Perrott (Commodities)

The Legal 500 says that Andrew “excels in reinsurance, coverage, product liability and professional indemnity disputes”, while clients, who were contacted by the directory to provide anonymous testimonials to support the rankings, praise the quality of his judgement.

Noel is head of HFW’s fraud and insolvency practice. He specialises in commercial litigation with an emphasis on financial litigation, fraud and asset recovery, insolvency, company law matters and trusts, and has significant experience handling offshore and multi-jurisdictional disputes. Clients describe Noel as “a seasoned litigator and master strategist”.

James specialises in shipping, including collisions, salvage, fire and explosion, total loss, piracy, limitation of liability, wreck removal, both civil and criminal pollution liabilities. He was awarded an OBE in 2016 for his role in pioneering the global shipping industry’s response to maritime piracy in Somalia.

Hugh specialises in shipping, focusing mainly on dispute resolution arising from charterparties, bills of lading and sale contracts, as well as management of casualty assignments.

Brian is a litigator focusing on complex commodities, derivatives and shipping disputes. Clients describe Brian as “tough but always likeable in the pursuit of his clients’ interests and never afraid to think outside the box”. He was formerly head of litigation at Cargill.

HFW has 55 practice and lawyer rankings in The Legal 500 UK. The firm received prominent rankings across aviation, commodities, construction, energy and resources, insurance and reinsurance, shipping, litigation and arbitration, corporate and M&A, asset and trade finance, international trade, EU and competition, fraud and insolvency, and TMT.
