UAE Insurance Claims: A Jurisdictional Conundrum

In the recent decision of the DIFC Court in Union Insurance PJSC v International Precious Metals Refiners LLC the DIFC Court has further reenforced the DIFC Court's jurisdiction to hear insurance claims which are subject to jurisdiction clauses referring to the "Courts of the UAE" or similar, even where there are ongoing onshore proceedings. We examine the impact of that decision on UAE insurance claims.
