Jonathan is a solicitor and mariner in the Admiralty and Crisis Management team of the firm's Shipping Group. He advises on litigation arising from marine and offshore energy casualties, including collisions, groundings, salvage/wreck removal, fires, total loss, and limitation and jurisdiction issues. He also has significant insurance experience having previously been a member of the firm's Insurance and Reinsurance team, particularly in marine and energy insurance. He is especially adept at dealing with complex technical issues.

Prior to becoming a solicitor, Jonathan was an officer in the Royal Navy for 18 years and served at sea in frigates and destroyers throughout the world. He was command qualified (the Navy's equivalent to the Master Mariner qualification) and as a Specialist Navigation Officer on the staff of Flag Officer Sea Training, he was responsible for training warship navigating officers and captains prior to their deployment on global operations. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Navigation and is also BOSIET and MIST certified, allowing him to travel offshore.
Jonathan is qualified in England and Wales.
