HFW Partner and Global Co-Head of International Arbitration Julien Fouret has served as editor of the third edition of a newly published leading monograph focused on the enforcement of investment treaty arbitration awards.
The book, Enforcement of Investment Treaty Arbitration Awards (Third Edition), is published by Globe Law and Business and provides up-to-date substantive analysis of recurring issues at the award enforcement stage, alongside practical perspectives on enforcing awards based on investment treaties.
Over 70 authors contributed to the Third Edition, comprising of governmental officials, lawyers, law professors and members of arbitral institutions.
The edition explores key topics surrounding the enforcement of investment treaty arbitration awards, including the specifics of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes mechanism, the enforceability and enforcement of provisional measures and enforcement of awards against sovereign states in a landscape of sovereign immunity.
This edition also features 33 country-specific chapters covering applicable international and domestic legal frameworks and reviews of the most recent practices. From HFW, contributors to the Third Edition’s chapters on specific issues by jurisdiction included:

Julien was appointed as Global Co-Head of HFW’s International Arbitration team alongside Partner Nick Longley in July 2025. He was appointed to the ICC Court of Arbitration for the 2024–2027 term and serves as Secretary General of the International Academy for Arbitration Law.
