Senior Associate
The department
With a long-standing presence in the heartland of the insurance industry in the City of London and a focus on insurance and reinsurance, our team advises on corporate, commercial and regulatory insurance matters. We support insurers, reinsurers, policyholders, brokers, financiers and intermediaries.
Our insurance transactions and regulation team comprises specialists with many years’ practice in advising the insurance industry. Our team is led by Will Reddie, Bob Haken and Ashwani Kochhar, and has a reputation for delivering results, often in technically challenging circumstances, to the London and international insurance and reinsurance markets. The team works closely with both our wider corporate group, and our leading insurance and reinsurance litigation group, which enables clients to benefit from their experience.
The role
To provide corporate, commercial and regulatory insurance legal expertise with a focus on Lloyd’s, London market and non-life insurance and reinsurance, and act for a wide variety of clients from multinationals to start-ups, across (re)insurers, intermediaries and investors. The role will include a good balance of transactional, commercial and advisory work, both domestic and international within a dedicated corporate, commercial and regulatory insurance team.
The ideal candidate will have a mixture of corporate, commercial and insurance regulatory experience.
Key skills and experience required
- 4-6 years’ PQE, currently operating as a mid-senior English law qualified associate level or equivalent in-house.
- You will have excellent transaction management skills and will be comfortable taking day-to-day responsibility for drafting and negotiating documents, and liaising with clients and other lawyers.
- You will have worked on matters involving financial services entities and ideally be familiar with the insurance sector’s regulatory regime.
- You will be a team player, able to support and train others, and will know when to delegate and when to seek support.
- You will be motivated, enthusiastic and able to thrive in a fast-paced working environment.
- You will have a willingness to learn and develop new skills, and to progress your career.
- You will relish client contact and have strong business development and client engagement skills.
- You will play an active role in business development.
