About Joanne

Joanne is a Legal Director in HFW’s Shipping team with extensive experience of both dry and wet shipping litigation.

She has significant experience in handling disputes involving charterparties, bills of lading, cargo claims, bunker issues, dangerous cargo, shipbuilding and ship repair, often with a focus on the Italian market. 

Joanne also has extensive experience in handling major casualties including car carrier/cargo fires, groundings, unsafe port claims, container stack collapse, main engine breakdowns, explosions, salvage and general average incidents.  

She advises shipowners, operators, charterers and insurers across a broad range of jurisdictions and has handled high value complex multi-jurisdictional casualties including the high-profile grounding of a container ship and container stack collapse off the Jurassic Coast of England. 

Joanne has spent time in the firm’s Hong Kong office. She is fluent in French and Italian, enabling her to support clients across different markets with ease.
