George is a dispute resolution practitioner specialising in cross-border fraud, banking and international trade disputes and shipping law (wet and dry). George is qualified in New Zealand, Hong Kong and England and Wales, where he is also admitted as a solicitor-advocate in the civil and criminal courts.

George is consistently ranked highly in both Chambers and Legal 500. He is heralded by sources as "an absolutely great shipping lawyer" (Chambers Asia Pacific 2011), "a seasoned practitioner" and a "well known name in Hong Kong Shipping" (Chambers Asia Pacific 2012). Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2019 lists him as a 'Leading Individual' for shipping in Hong Kong.

George is part of HFW's global marine piracy team who were awarded the Corporate Social Responsibility Award at the Lloyd's List Global Awards 2015 ceremony. The award celebrates excellence in corporate, social, ethical and environmental activity, and seeks to identify the company or organisation that best exemplifies the social and community spirit which is at the core of the shipping industry, and was presented in recognition of the outstanding pro bono work the firm's global marine piracy team has undertaken over the last year to secure the release of 22 "forgotten" seafarer hostages in Somalia.
